David E. Carter
LAc, MACOM

David became interested in Chinese medicine and acupuncture in 2008 while he was studying in Wuhan, China for a year on a scholarship from the Chinese government.

His formal training began in San Francisco, where he attended the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He then moved to Austin, TX and attended AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine and went on to study pulse diagnosis with the renowned Dr. William Morris.

David has also studied integrative medicine in a hospital in Chengdu, China while taking classes at the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In addition to working in AOMA's acupuncture clinic, David also performed acupuncture at the Veterans Affairs clinic treating Veteran's musculoskeletal issues, and the Texas Neuro-Rehab Center, where he treated drug and alcohol addiction.

Though he is primarily an acupuncturist and herbalist with a focus on integrating Chinese and Western medicine, David has also intensively studied qi gong, tai chi, tui na massage, cupping & nutrition.

After growing up in Massachusetts, he is excited to return and be near family and friends.

David was first drawn to a career in healthcare when he went through the humbling, yet rewarding experience of helping and living with a close friend through the final months of her battle with cancer. There was little he could do, but his desire to be able to do more eventually led David to Chinese medicine.

His goal is to fill in the gaps where Western Medicine falls short and to merge the medical practices of east and west so as to better serve his patients.

Tory Ashe

LAc, MACOM

Tory grew up in Barnstable, Massachusetts and went on to earn a degree in Psychology from Wellesley College. She then moved to Austin, Texas where she studied Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. There, she practiced in the student clinics as well as community clinics in the Austin area. She is nationally certified by the NCCAOM, and licensed to practice acupuncture in the state of Massachusetts.

Tory is trained in acupuncture, cupping, guasha, Qigong, and electrostimulation, as well as Chinese herbal and dietary therapy. She uses a combination of these modalities to create a holistic, individualized treatment plan for each of her patients. Tory specializes in stress reduction and mental wellness, pain management, allergies, digestive issues, and women’s health (menstrual and hormonal issues, fertility, painful periods, menopause). She has also been trained in the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) protocol for addiction and trauma, as well as Battlefield Acupuncture for pain management.

Tory uses an integrative approach to determine the root cause of illness and to treat the whole person— physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She is excited to share her expertise in order to help clients achieve their wellness goals, optimize their health and lead a balanced, joyful life.

She has always had a deep interest in medicine and healthcare, with a tendency to seek out holistic, gentle healing methods. This led her to her first acupuncture appointment in Austin, where she was blown away by the beauty and complexity of Chinese Medicine. Since then, she has experienced firsthand how impactful this medicine is and strives to bring healing into the lives of others. When not practicing acupuncture, Tory enjoys spending time in nature, playing frisbee with her dog Luna, eating ramen, and buying new plants she doesn’t have room for.
